Over the course of this journey, I met women, traditional midwives, skilled birth attendants, healthcare professionals and communities whose experiences challenged my own understanding of birth. Rather than comparing cultures, Born to Rise seeks to listen, learn and create space for dialogue.

The Manifesto
Born to Rise began with a simple truth: women's voices deserve to be heard, especially when it comes to birth and the bodies we live in.
Around the world, birth is often treated as a medical event. But it is also cultural, political and deeply human.
The way a society welcomes new life and cares for the people bringing it into the world reveals what it values, who it protects and who it leaves behind.
Through film, photography and conversation, Born to Rise follows the stories of women, midwives, doctors, activists and communities across cultures.
I travel not to compare.
Not to divide.
But to listen.
To witness.
To connect.
Because no matter where we come from, we all enter this world in the same way.
And one day, we all leave it the same.
What lies between those moments - how we care, how we include and how we love - is what defines us.
I believe stories can change something.
Born to Rise is an invitation to listen.
To the women who carry life.
To the hands that welcome it.
And to the voices that have remained unheard for far too long.
